Ireland’s tortoise approach to broadband

Seen on techno-culture

The Dail’s special committee’s report on broadband is out today and is fairly damning of the Irish situation (how could it be otherwise). Committee member Tommy Broughan TD got a press release out fast, noting three areas in which the report noted serious shortcomings: · the defective and lethargic government policy on broadband rollout; · the... Declaration of Oireachtas members interests

Seen on Daniel K. Sullivan

Get them while they are hot. Dail members Seanad Members I would say that Willie O’Dea has a question over his form. There is a remarkable (hence my remarking on it) lack of consistency about this, some reps list their Dail income as occupational income many others don’t are they supposed to or not? I’m kind of surprised that so few own shares... Continue reading »

Labour and Fine Gael Differ Radically Again

Seen on Daniel O Neill

The failure to be able to supply broadband to rural Ireland was again highlighted this week. Over 150 local Kilmoganny residents have signed a petition asking Eircom to upgrade their local exchange to support broadband. It is ridiculous that local communities that are crying out for broadband have to organise petitions and campaigns. The people... Continue reading »

Labour’s new website

Seen on ElectricNews.net:News

Labour’s new website The US Democrats spent a load of cash using the internet to first select their candidate and then take on George Bush. Little good it did them. And that’s in one of the most wired societies. So it’s with a modicum of doubt that we perused the new Labour Party website. It looks okay, but will it bring them new votes or... Continue reading »
